What the first analysis at Pockies showed
Pockies has sold underwear and loungewear for fifteen years, with a webshop on Shopify, an ERP in Itsperfect and the warehouse at Monta. When the founders ran the first version of the Unworn analysis on their own stock, one number came out that nobody in the company had ever added up: €173,958 at cost price was standing still across 18 articles, and keeping it cost €1,109 a week. This is the case as it was, including what happened next.
Why the number was not there
Not because nobody looked. Shopify showed what had sold, Itsperfect what it had cost, Monta what was on the shelf. Three systems, three counts, and the join at EAN level happened nowhere. An article that "still moves" in the webshop (two units a week) and sits in the warehouse with 1,400 units is not an alarm in any of the three systems. Only when you set sales velocity, stock and cost price side by side do you see that those 1,400 units are thirteen years of cover.

The figures split the €173,958 stock value at cost by the recommended route: sell as an offer €108,999, mark down €46,724, bundle €12,561, donate €5,116 and recycle €558. They are allocations of existing stock, not sale proceeds or tax benefits. In the calculation, the offer group has an estimated net recovery of €49,992. Estimates are not realised sales, and recycling still requires a legal eligibility check.
What the founders did with it
The published figures describe the analysis. Verified transaction results and the subsequent change in stock value have not yet been published.
What to check in your own analysis
- Start earlier. The oldest articles had been sitting for 260 days; the markdown of those months was gone before the analysis existed.
- Look at the size run per article sooner. Part of the underwear was standing still because the popular sizes had sold out, not because the product did not move. That is a buying decision, not excess inventory.
What this means for your brand
Pockies is not an exception. Every brand with a webshop, an ERP and a warehouse at a third party has the same three counts and the same missing number. The analysis that ran at Pockies is the one you can now run on your own systems for free: Shopify, Itsperfect and Monta are already connected, and a CSV works too.
