What people ask next

When is the fee charged?

Once, when a bid is accepted. The buyer pays it on top of the bid, together with the bid, to the payment institution. You, the seller, are not charged, and nothing is charged to anyone if every bid is declined.

Why does the buyer pay and not the seller?

Because the seller is the one making a decision, and we want nothing in the way of it. Buyers pay for lots that were counted and photographed before they bid, offered to a short list, and sold once.

How does VAT work?

Our fee is quoted excluding VAT and invoiced by our Dutch entity. A Dutch company pays Dutch VAT on top. A company elsewhere in the EU with a valid VAT number receives the fee invoice under the reverse charge. Outside the EU no VAT is charged. The VAT on the goods themselves sits on the sales invoice between seller and buyer and follows the usual rules: domestic, intra-EU with the buyer's VAT number, or export.

Who pays for transport?

The buyer. Every offer is sold ex works: the buyer collects, insures and imports, separately from the bid and from our fee. Nothing is deducted from your payout.

What happens if the buyer does not pay?

Nothing moves. The goods stay in your warehouse until the payment institution confirms the money is in. If the buyer has not paid within 7 days, the order is cancelled, the buyer is suspended and you can place the offer again. You owe nothing, because you are never charged.
